Progress report!

Hello, WIP-pers! (Wippersnappers?) Signup opened just about a month ago, so here is your chance to give a totally optional progress report if you want! How have things been going since? Have you written any new words or made progress in a different medium? Would you like to share a short snippet with us (~200 word or less)?

So far I have added a negligible number of words to my Oasis RPF mpreg sequel, BUT I may have finally figured out how to fix my screwy pacing. I took out my very favorite sex scene early in the fic (;__;), and I'm going to put it aside to save for later, where it will hopefully fit better.

I have mostly finished canon review! Which is often the hardest part of getting back to an old wip for me, since I never feel confident on voice unless I've just soaked in canon. And I think I have also, with help from a discord, figured out the story issue that was stalling me, though of course that's going to require several extra scenes I hadn't known about when I signed up.

Ahaha, I have been working on another WIP altogether, and it's at 28k words... but I haven't touched the one I signed up with!

I got some writing done, but very little on the WIP I am supposed to be working on. I also took a deliberate brain break from writing for a few days, which is probably good. I am trying to break up my mental approach to writing. This week I will hopefully be back on track.

I finished a WIP! But I feel like I can add more words to it before April. No progress was made on my other WIPs, though, so I should maybe focus on that as well in the coming months lol

It's not going well. I ironed out some kinks in the plot but I haven't written anything of substance.

I haven't actually worked on the WIP I signed up with, but that was planned, as I was writing a larger story for a gift exchange I finished on the 13th, and am preparing for a month-long fanworks fest in March right now. The fest, Back to Middle-earth Month, is encouraging working on older WIPs, too, and my WIP originates from an earlier round of this fest. I'm not sure I'll use a new prompt for my WIP, but I might find prompts which might inspire me to work at yet more WIPs during March.
I did work at another WIP, though: this is a much longer work with much larger chapters than my 1st "Crack the WIP", but I didn't want to sign up with it since I don't know I'll manage a new chapter until then. But just the possiblity of doing that actually helped me to work at it, so yeah. ^^

I got 1/5 chapters done and posted and have set a pace to be on track to finish!

The great thing about Crack the WIP is that I was super stalled on having to actually know and understand the key basis of my plot (ie competitive chess), except that it turns out I really don't need to understand more than general principles and have a few resources at hand--at least it's stopping me from going "I KNOW NOTHING" and stalling!

I finished one fic, but have several more irons in the fire. I also haven't written at all in two weeks 😬

For WIP-1, I've re-read what I have, made notes on things that need further revision with what's currently posted (one scene it's a closet, another it's an armoire, whoops!), and made notes on what needs to go into the chapters that are left.

For WIP-2, I've made some rough notes of what needs to go in the next chapters.

Should I be excited? Probably not. Am I excited? Hell yeah, because I managed to make the connections necessary to start the ending of my WIP! God, this thing has taken...way too long, lmao. I'll be glad to see it off into the world!

Any progress is good progress, even if you don't end up finishing for this round. IMO if the fest prompts you to write some words you wouldn't have otherwise, it's already a success. <3

I think I've managed 10-20k so far? Just wrapping up the last chapter + epilogue. There are still gaps where I wasn't sure how to end a scene or what to do in between scenes, but I'm aiming to have the first draft done, then hopefully a beta can look over it and tell me how to tie it together. I can definitely finish it before April, though. :D I'm excited!

Thanks for the reminder -- I originally didn't sign up because I was DEFINITELY going to finish this WIP before April but it turns out the timeline is looking pretty good.
